Piecing together Curriculum 2.0 for Victorian HPE teachers

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s (VCAA) updated Victorian Curriculum F-10 is coming and ACHPER Victoria is standing by and ready to lead the change from Version 1.0 to 2.0.

We will be here to guide Health and Physical Education (HPE) educators along the way, helping you understand how these changes will affect your teaching and your students.

About Version 2.0

The Victorian Curriculum F-10 Version 2.0 (Version 2.0) gives Victoria's students the best opportunity to thrive in a world of increasing change and rapid technological advancement. It reflects the expertise and feedback of Victorian teachers, making it easier for them to plan, assess and report on student learning.

The overarching structure of Version 2.0 has not changed from Victorian Curriculum F-10 Version 1.0, with the learning areas, capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities remaining the same. This recognises the continuing importance of a discipline-based approach to learning, where learning areas are regarded as both enduring and dynamic, supported by clearly articulated capabilities and cross-curriculum perspectives.

Benefits for teachers

A huge benefit for HPE teachers will be the addition of useful curriculum resources, including a new digital site that is user-friendly and accessible. This new web platform will be home to the revised curriculum and resources, all in one place. To access the new HPE webpage, please click here >>

Under the Resources tab on the new webpage, you’ll also find videos and professional learning to help familiarise HPE educators with Version 2.0.

Some additional of the benefits Version 2.0 will bring for teachers have been identified as:

  • A more manageable and accessible curriculum, including refined content descriptions
  • Resolves unintentional overlap and duplication across curriculum areas
  • Clear achievement standards to assess student learning more easily
